When a star collapses into a supernova, it releases a flood of gamma rays—violent, unrestrained, and absolute. Within five light-years, life is erased in an instant. Within twenty-five, survival becomes a coin toss. Even at fifty light-years, entire worlds tremble.
The word supernova suggests something radiant and new, yet it is the opposite: it is an old star reaching its final threshold, burning with a force that can only exist at the edge of death.
And still, it is through this destruction that matter is rearranged, seeded, and reborn. The explosion is not merely an ending, it is the opening gesture of another beginning. In the vast logic of the cosmos, even extinction becomes a form of creation.
恒星が崩壊して超新星となるとき、周囲には強烈なガンマ線が放たれる。暴力的で、制御不能で、圧倒的なエネルギーである。半径5光年以内では生命は瞬時に消え、25光年以内では生存は偶然に委ねられる。50光年離れていてもなお、世界は深い影響を受ける。
「超新星」という言葉は輝きや新しさを連想させるが、その実態は老いた星が限界に達し、死の縁で燃え尽きる瞬間である。
それでもこの破壊によって、物質は再配置され、宇宙へと播かれ、新たな循環へと組み込まれる。爆発は終わりではなく、次なる始まりのための最初の動きである。宇宙の論理においては、消滅すらもまた生成の一部なのだ。
